What is Aging – Anti Aging Tips

What is AgingWhat Is Aging and What Is Aging doing to us?

What is aging and why do people age as they grow older? Many people are concerned as to what is aging doing to us. Many use the terms aging and growing older synonymously yet they also accept that some ‘age’ better than others, inferring that the changes in our bodies as we grow older do not follow any defined chronological laws of nature. We will try to best answer the process of what is aging?

Sure, we all reach an age sometime when we must die, our bodies finally giving up the struggles of everyday life on earth, but for some of us that time comes later than for others. Growing old is time-dependant but that is not how the term ‘aging’ is generally understood or accepted. So what is aging all about ?

“You haven’t aged at all since I last saw you!” How often have you heard that (if you have been lucky enough)? Obviously, you have grown older, but the appearance of growing older has been slower than the observer had expected. So let’s agree now that, while aging and advancing in age in terms of chronology are often used as being one and the same, for the purposes of the question: ’ what is aging ‘, they are different. But most people are concerned as to what is aging going to do to themselves.

What is Aging : Bodily Changes With Age

Many changes take place in your body during your lifetime: your skin becomes less supple and more wrinkled, your muscles become weaker, your bones become more fragile and brittle and your brain function changes which is the basics of what is aging. Even though you eat a healthy diet as far as we can define one, and you generally ‘look after yourself’, these changes will all occur. Why is this? Why do these changes take place in our body? Why do brain cells progressively die and why does our skin become wrinkled, and why do we generally ‘look older’ as we slide down the razor blade of life what is aging doing to us?

Once we stop growing physically, why does a 30 year-old look older than a 22 year-old? Why does an 80 year-old man or women look older than one of 50? The answer is largely due to oxidation of our cells and other substances involved in our metabolism. Free radical oxidation of cholesterol can lead to blocked arteries, and damage to DNA can give rise to cancers, but these tend to reduce our lifespan rather contribute to the appearance of aging. So we continue to look for answers as to what is aging.

What is Aging: The Appearance of Aging

What is aging in terms of your appearance? The appearance of aging is often more important to people than their chronological age. The physical signs involve wrinkles, so-called age or liver spots and loss of hair color. Hair color should not be a problem because that can be dyed any color you want it to be, but the others tend to be general symptoms of what is aging about which little can generally be done – or at least little can be done after the event. By understanding their underlying causes, there are some visible signs of aging of which something can be done – if you are proactive and prevent them happening or at least slow them down.

Take wrinkles, for example. Have you never wondered why those fair-skinned people living in hot climates tend to develop skin that is more wrinkled and tougher than those in colder climates? Californians tend to age quicker than Scandinavians for example, and many Africans look younger than Australians of comparable age. Also, why do smokers tend to wrinkle faster than non-smokers?

What is Aging:- Free Radicals: The Molecules of Destruction

There is an answer to this question, and lies in a type of molecule known as a free radical. These are oxygenated molecules that are generated by exposure to pollutants such traffic fumes or tobacco smoke and also by exposure to the ultra-violet component of strong sunlight. In fact, many free radicals are a by-product of your own metabolism: the oxygen-driven cellular respiration essential for life. These free radicals are one main aspect as to what is aging all about.

When they are formed in your body these free radicals can destroy certain types of body cells, including skin cells. They can also cause damage to DNA molecules that can lead to some cancers. Another function of free radicals is to oxidize the LDL cholesterol in your blood and cause the cholesterol to deposit on the internal walls of your arteries. This gradually builds up and blocks the arteries leading to heart failure and strokes due to a lack of oxygen to the heart muscles and the brain. Then we are concerned as to what is aging really doing to us.

What is Aging: Free Radicals and Aging of Your Skin

The effect of free radicals on your skin is to destroy skin cells and lead both to wrinkled and tough, leathery skin which is what is aging us. People indigenous to hot climates have developed pigmentation in their skin to protect them from the ultraviolet rays in strong sunlight, but fair skinned people should use a good sun-blocker to protect them reducing the impact of what is aging us.

Anti-aging skin creams contain antioxidants – substances that neutralize free radicals, what is aging us, and prevent them from having this effect on your skin cells. Not only that, but they help to rehydrate skin that has been dried out by excessive exposure to strong sunlight and offer your skin the nutrition it needs to regain its youthful health.

What is Aging: Anti-Aging Creams Delay the Appearance of Aging

They cannot make you younger, but they can help prevent the action of the substances and strong sunlight that are responsible for free radicals. In doing that, they help prevent your skin from wrinkling to begin with, can help smooth out already wrinkled skin and can help prevent the formation of these small molecules that accelerate the appearance of otherwise what is aging.

Anti-aging skin creams cannot prevent aging, but what is aging in terms of your looks can be delayed by tackling the substances that cause the physical appearance of wrinkling, leathery skin and liver spots. You will then be able to look younger for a lot longer, and age, as they say, gracefully but looking great. Now we can understand what is aging all about.
